Trial Set for Man Charge in Jackson County Highway Shooting Incident

A trial date for an Eastern Iowa man charged in a highway shooting incident in Jackson County earlier this year has been scheduled to begin on January 5th in Jackson County District Court.

18-year old Benton Hale or Toronto, Iowa is charged with going armed with intent, intimidation with a dangerous weapon, reckless use of a firearm, and reckless driving for the June 11th incident near Preston on Highway 64. Hale has pled NOT GUILTY to all charges.

Deputies arrested Hale following a report from another man who called dispatchers claiming he was being followed by a man in another car with a gun. Authorities say during the phone conversation, gun fire was heard.  The two vehicles eventually collided
