Insanity Defense Claimed In Dubuque Murder Case


A judge hearing the case has ruled a Dubuque man charged with murdering his mother last month will undergo a mental health evaluation to see whether he is competent to stand trial.Tyler Dazey

This week in Dubuque County District Court, attorneys for 28-year old Tyler Dazey entered a written plea of not guilty filing paperwork saying that they intend to use a defense of insanity and diminished capacity in the case. A competency evaluation review hearing was set for February 21st after the evaluation in conducted.

Dazey was charged in the death of 46-year-old Jennifer Dazey after she was found dead in the home they shared on Avoca Street on January 18th.
