The Mississippi River is receding and the United States Coast Guard is opening up more pools to recreational boaters.
Just this morning, the Coast Guard announced Pool 10 which is the Guttenberg Pool has been reopened for boat traffic. Pool 9, the Lynxville pool has also opened back up.
As of this morning Pool 11 at Dubuque, Pool 12 at Bellevue, and Pool 13 at Fulton are among the pools still closed since the measures went into place on July 3rd due the dangerous flooding with massive amounts of debris in the water, and extremely swift current.
The Mississippi River today at Dubuque is 21.2 feet and is falling which is just into what is the moderate flooding category. The river at Guttenberg is at 17.6 and is falling now into the minor flooding category.
