For the 3rd season in a row, the Wahlert Golden Eagle softball team has advanced to state tournament play. 3rd ranked Wahlert toppled Independence 15-5 in five innings. Wahlert (29-10) will meet 7th ranked Sumner-Fredricksburg (33-3)at 7:30 on Monday night at Harlan Rogers Park in Fort Dodge.
The Western Dubuque Bobcats also advanced to the 4A state softball tournament field. The 9th ranked Bobcats held off 10th ranked Clear Creek-Amana 4-3 to win the win the Region 7 championship. W.D (30-9) will play #1 ranked North Polk (36-4) at 4:45 on Monday in Fort Dodge.

In high school baseball both Wahlert and Western Dubuque are one win from advancing to the Class 3A State Tournament next week.
- #1 Wahlert defeated Mt. Vernon 7-5 and will host Clear Creek-Amana this evening for the Substate 4 championship. You can hear the game this evening on AM 1370, pregame at 6:50pm
- #5 Western Dubuque knocked off Independence 12-5 and will host Center Point-Urbana this evening in the Substate 3 title game.
- In 4A substate play, Senior lost to North Scott 8-7.
- In 2A: Cascade came short of advancing to state losing 4-3 to Wilton in the substate 4 final.
