The Jackson County Sheriff says four people were injured in two accidents happening one after the other Wednesday night on Highway 61 north of Maquoketa.
The Sheriff says the first crash happened shortly after 7:30 in the northbound lanes when a vehicle pulled out from a stop sign and was hit by an oncoming semi-truck. Authorities say while first responders were in route, two motor vehicles stopped in the southbound lanes of the highway were struck by another vehicle.
Two people injured were taken by helicopter to the hospital with serious injuries and two people were taken by ambulance to local hospitals for treatment. So far no names of those involved have been released. The accidents are still under investigation.
