Marquette Catholic Playing For State Boys Basketball Championship

For the third time in school history a  Bellevue Marquette Catholic team will attempt to win the first boys state basketball championship.  

Last night the Defenders advanced to the 1-A state title game by defeating Gladbrook-Reinbeck 57-45 in the semifinals at Wells Fargo Arena. 

Marquette Catholic trailed by 3 points at half and by 43-41 after 3 quarters but turned on the afterburners in the 4th quarter outsourcing the Rebels 16-2 to earn their 27th win of the season. Spencer Roeder led the scoring for Marquette Catholic with 21 points and Eli Scott had 14.  

The Defenders will meet unbeaten 2nd ranked Madrid for the championship tonight at 7 o’clock and you can hear the action starting with the pregame at 6:45 on Radio Dubuque station  AM 1370 KDTH, the Radio Dubuque App  and radiodubuque.com.
