The Dubuque County Sheriff says a Zwingle man is in jail after causing serious injury to a man after breaking into his home in Zwingle and attacking him and then breaking into another before his arrest.
Authorities say 43-year old Andrew Foust was arrested late last night and faces several charges.
The investigation report shows Foust broke into the home on Prospect Street with a golf club and threatened to kill 53-year old Daniel Cripe. Foust then reportedly struck Cripe in the head and arms with a piece of a window frame embedded with nails causing lacerations and a brain bleed. Authorities say Cripe was taken to Finley Hospital in Dubuque for treatment.
After the attack, Foust reportedly stripped off his clothes and attempted to get away by climbing into a vehicle his wife and five children were in. His wife and one child got out before Foust “drove through several yards with four of the children still inside. He parked the vehicle and went to another Zwingle home on Maple Street, grabbed a snow shovel and broke two windows out before getting inside. When authorities arrived, Foust was sitting under a running shower in the home and he was arrested.
Authorities say Foust had consumed psychedelic mushrooms and was out of control. He is in the Dubuque County Jail on $50-thousand dollars bond.
