A forum to gather ideas for the City of Dubuque’s parks and recreation master plan has been set by two local conservation groups for Thursday, May 22nd at 6pm at Carnegie-Stout Public Library. Dubuque Audubon Society and Dubuque Area Land and Water Legacy are seeking input from their members, allies and the public to assist the organizations in preparing recommendations for the City of Dubuque and its consultant, Kimley-Horn. Dubuque Audubon Society provides educational opportunities to people in the tri-state area and advocates for the preservation of natural habitat for birds and other wildlife.
Kimley-Horn, an Arizona-based consulting firm, has been hired by the City of Dubuque for $396,000 to conduct research, solicit public and stakeholder input and make recommendations to the City Council. According to Marie Ware, Parks and Recreation Department director, the master plan will examine the quality of Dubuque’s parks, how to protect its natural resources and get feedback from the community on potential gaps in service. The Audubon Society is also planning to offer its own recommendations.
