Teriyaki Burgers (serves 8)
2 lbs. Ground Beef
½ cup Teriyaki sauce
¾ cup plain bread crumbs
1 ½ tsp. garlic powder
1 ½ tsp. onion powder
Salt and Pepper, to taste
8 slices American Cheese
8 burger buns (toasted, optional)
Lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles for garnish (optional)
Glaze:
½ cup Teriyaki sauce
2 tbsp. honey
2 tbsp. soy sauce
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, teriyaki sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. Mix well. Don’t overwork the meat! Form the mixture into 8 evenly sized patties, making a indentation in the center of each patty.
Preheat grill over medium-high heat. Cook the burger patties for 4-5 minutes per side. During the final minute of cooking, add a slice of American cheese to each patty to melt.
Make the glaze: While burgers are cooking, in a small saucepan, combine the teriyaki sauce, honey and soy sauce. Heat over medium heat until the mixture thickens slightly, about 2-3 minutes.
Place the cooked patty on burger bun. Drizzle each patty with the teriyaki glaze. Add your favorite burger toppings like lettuce, tomato, sliced onion, and pickles if desired. Serve.
