More Rain To Cause Mississippi To Climb Into Holiday

MISSISSIPPI RIVER 1

After more rain in its basin yesterday, the Mississippi River will be climbing into the July 4th Holiday.

This morning river stage at Dubuque is 10.8 feet and will begin to see a rise in the level starting tomorrow morning with a current projecting of hitting just over 14.6 feet by next Friday, which is just below the action stage of 15 feet. Flood stage at Dubuque is 17 feet.

One year ago the Mississippi was flirting with record setting levels which eventually prompted the U.S. Coast Guard to close the river to recreational boat traffic over the fourth of July Holiday.  Exactly one year ago the river had crossed flood stage at Dubuque and moved to major flooding levels of just over 22 feet by the fourth of July.
