Illinois State Police Continue Investigating Non-Fatal Officer Involved Shooting In Savanna

NEWS ILLINOIS

The Illinois State Police have released the name of the man shot and wounded in an officer involved shooting incident last week in Carroll County.

59-year old Mark Feltmeyer of Freeport was arrested Tuesday after being discharged from the hospital. Feltmeyer faces numerous charges for the incident on the night of June 25th which all started with the report of a stolen vehicle in Freeport and ended early the next morning in Savanna.

Authorities say Feltmeyer resisted arrest which resulted in damage to a squad car, and officers firing their weapons and Feltmeyer being struck by gunfire.

Last week after the incident the Carroll County Sheriff said some police officers from Savanna and Mount Carroll were injured and required treatment at the hospital. The Illinois State Police say no law enforcement officers were injured by gunfire in the incident. The investigation continues.
