5 Dubuque County Baseball And Softball Teams Readying For State Tournament Next Week

Two Dubuque county high school baseball teams and three softball teams are making final preparations this weekend for state tournament play next week.

In baseball, the top ranked Wahlert Golden Eagles are the number one seed for the Class 3A tournament in Sioux City. The Golden Eagles first round opponent will be Boone on Monday morning at 11:30 at Lewis and Clark Park. This is Wahlert’s third straight trip to state and 10th in program history.

On Tuesday morning, the Cascade Cougars are the eight seed in the Class 2A tournament taking place in Carroll. The Cougars will meet top seed Underwood at 11 o’clock.

At the State Softball Tournament in Fort Dodge. Western Dubuque will be the first area team in action. The Bobcats are the number 6 seed and will meet 3 seed North Polk on Monday afternoon at 12:45. On Monday night in Class 3A, the top seed Wahlert Golden Eagles will face 8 seed Center Point Urbana at 7 o’clock.  On Tuesday afternoon in Class 2A the Cascade Cougars are the 6 seed and will square off with 3 seed West Lyon at 3 o’clock.
