Dubuque native and former New Mexico State University men’s basketball coach Greg Heiar has received a $600,000 settlement after a wrongful termination suit.
Heiar sued the school claiming they made him the scapegoat during a hazing scandal involving the basketball program. Heiar was fired and the school canceled the remainder of the 2022-23 basketball season after the allegations were made.
Heiar is currently the head coach at Trinity Valley Community College in Texas.
