Three Cascade Students Charged With Creating Deep Fake AI Photos

WESTERN DUBUQUE

Criminal charges have been filed against 3 Cascade High School students accused of being involved in creating nude photos of female classmates using A.I. technology.

The Dubuque County Attorney and Dubuque County Sherriff’s Office announced yesterday charges against the three have been filed in juvenile court. Officials say charges are also expected against a fourth student.

Law enforcement and the Western Dubuque School District have been investigating the incident since April when several female students reported the photos.

School district officials say any student who has been charged as a creator or distributor of materials like those in question will not be permitted to attend school in person at Cascade Junior/Senior High School.
