A cooking fire is being blamed for starting a fire at a home on Dubuque’s North end last night.
Around 10 o’clock Dubuque Firefighters were called to 655 Edith Street on the report and found flames and smoke coming from inside. All those inside the home got out safely and there were no injuries. Fire crew stayed for about 2 ½ hours. Damage was estimated at around $60-thousand dollars. Investigators say the fire was determined to be accidental due to unattended cooking oil being heated on the stove top.
The American Red Cross assisted the family.
