For this first time in 30 years and 5th time ever, Darlington has a Wisconsin high school state football champion.
This afternoon at Camp Randall in Madison the Redbirds started fast and never looked back finishing a perfect season with a decisive 42-18 victory over previously unbeaten Edgar for the Division 6 championship.
Darlington started with a 21-0 lead at the end of the first quarter which included a pick 6 on defense and then led 35-6 at halftime.
The Redbirds piled up 351 yards total offense with 287 on the ground against a Wildcat defense that had shut out eight opponents this Season.
Defensively Darlington held Edgar to just 231 yards.
