A Wisconsin hunter was seriously injured by a stray bullet on the first day of the state’s 9-day gun deer season.
The Grant County Sheriff says around 2:45 Saturday afternoon they received a 9-1-1 call about a 57-year-old man who had been shot near Fennimore. Deputies learned the man was getting ready to go hunting with his adult daughter when a gunshot came from somewhere across the road from them.
The wounded man whose name was not released was first taken to Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster and then airlifted to another hospital for further treatment.
The incident is being investigated by the Wisconsin DNR.
