City Discusses Ending Daily Air Service

Dubuque City Council

The fate of daily air service in Dubuque is uncertain. Last night the Dubuque city council discussed potentially ending its contract with Denver Air Connections. A final decision act is expected to come at the next city council meeting on December 15th.

More than 3.5 million dollars in federal, city and local business investments have already been paid into a revenue guarantee for Denver Air since it began offering daily flights in November 2024.

Airport officials say the fights from Dubuque Regional Airport to Chicago O’Hare International Airport were 53 percent full in October, the highest ridership of any month since service began. Until ridership reaches 80 percent, or Dubuque decides to end the contract, the city has agreed to fund the service.
