A Dubuque man who led a state trooper on a high speed pursuit striking two vehicles has been sentenced. 35-year old Stephen D. Travis received the sentence of five years of probation in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County after pleading guilty to eluding, second-offense operating while intoxicated and first-degree harassment, and misdemeanor traffic offenses.
The incident occurred September 23rd on the Northwest Arterial when the trooper tried to pull over a vehicle driven by Travis for speeding. Authorities say Travis was clocked at 121 miles per hour as he sped away. He then turned onto Highway 3 heading south toward Dubuque and hit two vehicles from behind before continuing on. The chase finally ended on Jackson Street near the intersection with Milwaukee Street.
