The Iowa D.N.R. invites you to take a hike to ring in the New Year.
Several state parks including four local ones, Mines of Spain in Dubuque, Bellevue State Park, Maquoketa Cave State Park, and Backbone State Park are hosting First Day Hike events tomorrow. Hikes will average one to three miles and be guided by DNR staff.
- At Mines of Spain in Dubuque, you’re invited to meet at the E.B. Lyons Nature Center at 12 noon tomorrow for a variety of guided hikes. Refreshments will be provided after the hike.
- At Bellevue State Park, the hike will begin at 10 in the morning at the Dyas Unit West Shelter.
- Maquoketa Caves First Day Hike begins at 10 in the morning meeting at the Lower Stone Shelter House.
- Backbone State Parks hike also begins at 10 in the morning at the Old Shop just east of the East Gate park entrance.
