The well-advertised bone chilling cold has arrived. The area is under an Extreme Cold Warning until noon with a Cold Weather Advisory in place after that until noon on Saturday.
Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 45 below zero are forecast with the day time high reaching the single digits below zero. The cold will stick around through the weekend with the warmest daytime high next week on Tuesday in the teens above zero.
The extreme cold this morning caused the school officials to close or go to virtual learning.
