A district court ruling is siding with Northeast Iowa Community College in a lawsuit over the firing of former NICC President Herbert Riedel.
The NICC Board of Trustees terminated Riedel in November 2023 and he had sued the board accusing them of violating the state’s open meetings law by holding a closed door meeting where a performance action plan for Riedel was discussed. He was later placed on administrative leave before eventually being terminated.
The Winneshiek County District Judge hearing the case has just ruled the Board’s termination decision was done with just cause under Iowa Code.
