A fire in La Motte has destroyed a building which was home to two businesses.
Shortly before six on Sunday morning fire crews from La Motte were called to the fire at 522 Elm Street. Due to the size of the blaze crews from Andrew, Bellevue, Bernard, Key West, Maquoketa, Preston and Springbrook were called in to help. Crews remained at the site until mid-afternoon.
Midwest Legacy Beef and Eastern Iowa L.P. were ruled a total loss. The loss was estimated to be around one million dollars. There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
