Senior  Boys Advances to State Tournament, Wahlert Stopped Short

For the third season in a row and the 11th in school history Senior High School has a team heading to the boys state basketball tournament.

Last night Senior defeated Muscatine 69-56 for the 4A Substate 5 championship.  The Rams trailed by two at halftime and led by just one point at the end of three quarters, but then a furious 24-12 fourth quarter led them to victory.  Senior now 21-and-2 on the season is the number 5 seed and will play 4 seed Dowling Catholic at 5:30 Monday evening.

In the Class 3A Substate 3 championship Wahlert Catholic was stopped short of the state tournament in a 66-53 loss to Cedar Rapids Xavier at the Wahlert gym.  The Golden Eagles trailed 36-22 at halftime but managed to pull within 6 points in the fourth quarter before the Saints pulled away.

Wahlert  finished their season with a record of 15-an-9.
