Today at the Iowa High School Boys State Basketball tournament, the Bellevue Marquette Catholic Defenders will attempt to get back to the Class 1A state championship game for a third season in a row today as they meet the MMRCU Royals in the semi-finals at the Casey’s Center in Des Moines.
The #6 seed Defenders now 24-and-2 advanced on Tuesday with an impressive 58-55 upset win over #3 seed Bishop Garrigan. The 2 seed Royals, making their first tournament appearance in school history, defeated Boyden-Hull to advance and have a record of 26-and-1.
