The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of a phone scam targeting area residents. According to online post, The Department says the caller is falsely identifying himself as “Deputy Hart” with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and is attempting to obtain personal information while threatening residents with alleged federal arrest warrants. This is a scam. Law enforcement will not call you demanding money, gift cards, wire transfers, or immediate payment to avoid arrest. They will also not threaten you over the phone with arrest warrants or request personal financial information. If you have questions about the legitimacy of a call claiming to be from law enforcement, contact the Sheriff’s Office directly before responding or sending money to anyone.
