Coverage partner KCRG reports last night the Dubuque Community School Board voted to move forward with plans to buy the Keystone Area Education Agency’s Dubuque facility for $1.9 million.
Pending Keystone’s approval, District Superintendent Amy Hawkins said the district plans to purchase the building using sales tax funding called SAVE dollars. The move would also give the district full access to 17 acres of land. The district would use the building for its online school staff and its program that connects with students that recently dropped out of school.
The offer will be considered by Keystone at its June 16th meeting.
In other business the board also approved a new three-year rolling contract for Hawkins giving her a 3 percent salary increase in the upcoming school year to just over $249-thousand dollars.
