The monthly rainfall total from the official National Weather Service weather site at the Dubuque Regional Airport shows it was one of the wettest September’s on record.
The official rainfall total ending at midnight for the month was 9.82 inches which was a whopping 5.56 inches above the average September rainfall of 3.82 inches.
The record for the wettest September in Dubuque history is 15.46 inches of rainfall, set in September 1965. At the time, this also held the record for the most rainfall ever received in any single calendar month in Dubuque, until it was later surpassed by July 2011 with 16.01 inches.
