Listen to Johnny talk about his weekend while you enjoy some pics.
Carrie and I are nearing our 24th wedding anniversary. If she actually keeps me around for another year, we’ll have a big one in 2024. I wanted to do something special and different this year, so with the help of some friends over at Eagle Ridge, a fun overnight stay was planned!
We don’t get to Galena as often as we should. It’s a great little town, with fun shops, and cool bars. Last time we were there, we had a fun time at the Grape Escape, so we stopped in for a cocktail or two. And I found a banana beer that hit the spot!
When you first arrive, you’ll most likely be greeted by the nicest damn lady in the hotel industry! She gets us checked in, then informs me that we are staying in “her favorite room”. That’s good to hear!
Here is the view from the bay window in our room. She wasn’t kidding. This room is awesome! And then we found out someone left a bottle of champagne in the fridge!
Cheers to 24 years!
Obviously, wasted no time in opening that bottle! Had a nice hang in the room for a bit, then went outside to enjoy that Galena sunshine on the outdoor patio at Eagle Ridge.
Hung out with a couple nice ladies visiting from Rockford. We thought one got lost on the trails. There are well over 18 miles of trails around the area!
Hit the Woodlands Lounge, ordered pizza to go, and then enjoyed a sunset walk out on the deck.
Saturday morning rolls around, and we had a decision to make. Breakfast buffet, or bloody mary? Mary won
The staff at the Woodlands Restaurant were as great as everywhere else. But if I have to pick a favorite, it’s got to be Jack at the Woodlands Lounge. This place could easily become my favorite bar. Jack opened early for us, and provided some great company and entertainment.
General Manage Steve Geisz has been a great friend to me, and the entire Radio Dubuque company for a long time. He’s always been at the front of the line when we do any promotions to hele the Veterans (Steve is a vet himself), and make our events better than ever. Looking forward to working with him and Eagle Ridge this upcoming July 3rd. Wait til you hear what we all have planned!
