City of Dubuque Beginning Lead Water Line Replacements

CITY OF DUBUQUE

The city of Dubuque will soon begin to replace lead water service lines at 585 homes over the next three years at no cost to the property owners.

The replacement project is made possible from funding through the Iowa State Revolving Fund as part of the $50-Billion dollars from the EPA to improve the nation’s drinking water and wastewater systems.

The State Revolving Fund loan the city acquired is 49 percent forgivable, with the city repaying the other 51 percent at zero percent interest, leaving the city about 3.2 million to replay through water fees already built into the budget.
