Illinois Holds Off Iowa State 72-69
Terrence Shannon Jr. scored 29 points and Illinois reached the Elite Eight for the first time since 2005, beating Iowa State 72-69 in an East Region semifinal .
Illinois never trailed with Iowa State missing two or three chances to tie the game in the second half. Illinois reached a regional final for first time since 2005 and will meet defending champion UConn on Saturday for a trip to the Final Four. Curtis Jones scored 26 points to lead Iowa State.

- Top-seeded and defending NCAA champion UConn advanced to the Elite Eight beating San Diego State 82-52 in a rematch of last year’s title game.
- Alabama beat top-seeded North Carolina 89-87.
