Dubuque Firefighters battled a house fire late yesterday afternoon.  Fire crews received the call around four o’clock and responded to 17-80 Hale Street after someone passing by the home called 9-1-1 to report smoke coming from inside the home.  Online records show the home is owned by Kelsey Woodward.

Upon arriving, crews reported moderate smoke conditions inside the building and high heat on the first floor. Firefighters located three pets inside, and removed them from the house.

There were no human injuries. A pet dog and cat died, and one cat was taken to the vet for treatment.  The fire was extinguished shortly after firefighters arrived.

Officials say the home is deemed uninhabitable and two residents were relocated. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
