A 6th grade student at Saint Francis Xaiver in Dyersville is one of five students nationally to be selected for the Independent Inventors Program at the RTX Invention Convention U.S. Nationals this summer.

Jackson Their’s invention titled “The Super Step” is a piece of steel that clips onto any standard ladder and creates a half step. It solves the problem of not being at the right height when stepping on a ladder. Their’s entry was selected from 89 projects submitted by a total of 155 participating students for a chance at Nationals.

Judging takes place on Thursday, June 6 during the competition in Deerborn, Michigan.

There will also be a team of casting professionals from ABC’s Shark Tank, who will be available to any participant who wants to pitch their invention for consideration for a future episode of the TV series.
