East Dubuque Man Accused of Killing Monticello Fareway Employee To Use Intoxication Defense

Court records show the East Dubuque man charged with killing a Monticello Fareway employee plans to argue that he was intoxicated when his trial begins this summer.

Nathan Russell is charged with first degree murder, and going armed with intent in the shooting death Aaron McAtee outside the store on November 7th.

By arguing intoxication, Russell’s defense will try to prove that he was incapable of forming intent. Russell’s trial is scheduled to begin in August.
