The Dubuque County Fair has decided to cancel this year’s open class dairy show.
The fair made the announcement this weekend in a post on social media.
Officials with the fair say the decision was made mostly due to recent guidelines and regulation changes within the state of Iowa from US Secretary of AG due to the Avian Flu.
At the end of June, new guidelines came out from the state saying dairy cattle must be tested before being moved to a fair or exhibition. Officials also stated they were taking all precautions to ensure everyone involved in the fair is safe and healthy. The post said the open class dairy show will return to the fair next year. All the other events scheduled will go on as planned.
The 71st annual Dubuque County Fair takes place July 23rd thru 28th.
