The Maquoketa Sentinel-Press reports Jackson County Sheriff Brent Kilburg is contesting a traffic citation he received from a Maquoketa Police officer for an accident earlier this year when he drove his department-owned vehicle into a parked truck.
The Sentinel-Press says last week Kilburg pleaded not guilty to the charge of failing to maintain control of his vehicle for the accident occurring June 3rd in Maquoketa.
Kilburg admits he was reaching for his phone to make a call while turning and his vehicle collided with truck. He told the paper the reason he is contesting the citation is to try and preserve his clean driving record.
A pre-trial conference has been scheduled for August 6th.
