A Cascade woman has been named the Iowa Conservation Woman of the Year.
Third generation farmer Lillie Beringer-Crock was announced the recipient of the award on Monday at the USDA Conservation Districts of Iowa annual meeting in Ames.
Beringer-Crock took over the Beringer Family Farms about five years ago and has since made significant soil and water conservation improvements.
Another major change Beringer-Crock made to the family farm is the way she markets beef. She created an online business, shipping 21-day dry-aged individual beef cuts to all 50 states, also supplying beef to local restaurants and several schools in the area.
