The Northeast Iowa Community College Board of Trustees named an interim president as it continues its search for a new president. Vice President of Finance and Administration Dave Dahms has been named to the position.
The board said the decision was unanimous, and Dahms will serve in the role for no more than two years, with a salary of $260,000 for the first year of the contract. Dahms has been serving as Acting President since October 2023.
The college’s previous president, Doctor Herbert Riedel, was placed on administrative leave on Oct. 8, 2023. The board voted unanimously to terminate his contract in November 2023. Riedel filed a lawsuit against the Board in January, but a judge sided with the Board, saying it had “just cause” in its decision.
