Iowa Airports Receive Money for Improvements

Many improvement projects to Iowa airports are in the works after the governor allocated 100 million federal dollars from the American Rescue Plan to the state’s Commercial Aviation Infrastructure Fund, according to Shane Wright of the DOT.  The Dubuque Regional Airport was given 2.7 million dollars to construct a large box style hangar next door to the existing UD aviation building. The hangar space previously occupied by UD will be able to house 14 training aircrafts with the new improvements The Eastern Iowa airport in Cedar Rapids was given a little more than 28 million dollars for its terminal expansion to handle more traffic and the Waterloo Regional Airport, was awarded $2.1 million.
