CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – As the calendar turned over to 2025, several new laws are now in place in Iowa.
Iowans will see a lower income tax rate starting Wednesday. This is a new 3.8 percent flat tax rate for all taxpayers. This puts Iowa at the sixth-lowest income tax rate in the country.
Also starting today, Iowa drivers will see a $10 dollar increase for certain vehicle registrations and title applications.
Other laws have to do with Iowans consumer data protection. The new law says consumers have rights to their personal data.
The last of the new laws says businesses selling or delivering tobacco products must now have a permit to continue sales.
