University of Iowa Junior right hand pitcher Aaron Savary has been named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week. The honor is the first of his career.
The Dubuque native threw five shutout innings against Rutgers allowing just three hits (all singles) and two walks. He struck out six as the Hawkeyes won, 16-0, in seven innings.
Savary improved to 3-0 on the season with a 1.66 ERA. He has allowed just nine hits in 22 2/3 innings of work and ranks 15th in the nation with 3.74 hits allowed per nine innings.
