Jo Daviess County Emergency Management says the three firefighters seriously injured fighting a grass fire in Jo Daviess County are still hospitalized and reported to be in stable condition. The names of the three are still not available.
The three were airlifted to hospitals after being suffering injuries while fighting the fire on South Rush Road near Elizabeth on Tuesday afternoon. The fire remains under investigation.
The Elizabeth Fire Department is asking for donations to help in the recovery and care of the three firemen and assist their families. An account has been set up at Apple River State Bank, Citizens State Bank, and Illinois Bank and Trust. A Go Fund Me page has also been set up.
