Charges have been dismissed against a Dubuque woman charged with taking money from a dying man’s credit union account while she was his caretaker.
37-year old Melissa Wieser was charged with first degree theft, financial exploitation of an older individual and dependent adult abuse, but the judge in the case ruled to dismiss the case after prosecutors filed a motion following interviews with witnesses in the case.
In December 2023, Wieser was accused of stealing from the man who was in hospice care and later died.
