The Iowa County Sheriff says at least one person is dead after a crash Friday afternoon on Highway 18/151 at the intersection of County Road K near Barneveld. At least one semi-truck was involved. Multiple fire and EMS units responded. The crash closed both lanes of travel for several hours between noon and 6 yesterday evening. No other details have been released yet.
The intersection has been a historically dangerous one, prompting Iowa County Sheriff Michael Petersen and some residents to plead with state officials to take action to make the intersection safer. The Sheriff says over the last 10 years the 18/151 corridor in Iowa county has seen over 500 crashes, resulting in over 180 injuries with far too many being fatal.
