Tree Roots Cause Sanitary Sewer Overflow at Spring Valley/JFK Rd. Intersection

CITY OF DUBUQUE

The City of Dubuque says tree roots grew into and blocked a sanitary sewer pipe near 3297 Spring Valley Road and caused a sanitary sewer overflow yesterday morning. The overflow caused an undetermined amount of untreated wastewater to flow into the storm sewer system at the intersection of Spring Valley Road. and John F. Kennedy Road.

Public Works Department removed the blockage in the sewer pipe in a couple of hours.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources cautions people to keep their children and pets away.
