Prison Sentence for Cocaine Death

(KCRG) – A Chicago man who conspired with others to distribute cocaine in Dubuque has been sentenced to over 24 years in federal prison.
During a plea hearing, 45-year-old Maurice Randolph confessed he and several others conspired to distribute cocaine near several parks and schools in Dubuque from 2017 to April 2021. He admitted he brought the cocaine from Chicago. He then teamed up with others to distribute the substance in the Dubuque area. On February 14, 2021, a co-conspirator of Randolph’s gave cocaine to a young woman in Dubuque. When the woman went home and used the cocaine, she died. On December 5, 2024, Randolph pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute over 500 grams of cocaine within 1,000 feet of multiple parks and schools in Dubuque, resulting in the death of a Dubuque woman. He was sentenced to 292 months in federal prison. In addition, Randolph and two other individuals must jointly pay nearly $14,000 to the victim’s family.
