Girls Tennis Regional Tournament Play
The Hempstead girls tennis team is headed back to state. The Mustangs defeated Iowa City Liberty 5-0, and then held off Iowa City West, 5-4, in the regional final in Iowa City. Hempstead, the Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division champion, improved to 15-2 overall. The state tournament will be held June 2 in Waukee.

Baseball
- Illinois baseball (30-22) opened the 2025 Big Ten Baseball Tournament with a dramatic 6-5 win, in extra innings, over [7] Michigan. The Illini meet #2 seed UCLA today.
The Iowa Hawkeyes open Big Ten Tournament play this evening 6pm, facing 10th-seeded Rutgers.
Men’s Golf
- The University of Dubuque men’s golf team teed it up early Tuesday morning for round one of the NCAA Division III National Championships, held at Cobblestone Creek Country Club in Victor, New York. The Spartans currently sit tied for 25th (+21) out of 43 teams after round one. The Spartans were led by Joe LaBarbera, who caught fire down the stretch with a strong finish, going 3-under par in his final four holes to post a 2-over 74.
