Day 2 Highlights From the Iowa High School State Track Meet

  • Western Dubuque claimed another state championship winning the boys Distance Medley title in state meet record time. Anchor leg Quentin Nauman won his 2nd gold medal of the meet and 6th of his career with an all-time state record 800 time of 1:47.49. The Bobcats also had an 8th place effort in the 4×200.
  • Western Dubuque’s Garrett Kluesner finished state runner up in the 3A boy’s shot put.
  • Wahlert Catholic girls distance medley and 4×200 teams both finished 7th.
  • Cascade boys 4×200 finished 4th
  • Bellevue girls 4×200 finished in 2nd place
  • Senior’s Garrett Schumacher was 5th in the 400 hurdles.

Today is championship Saturday at the state meet with all events being finals starting at 9 this morning. You can hear reports on area athletes on AM 1370 KDTH, report will air at 9:07am, 11:07am, 1:07pm, 4:07pm, and 6:07pm
