The Galena Police Department says one of their officers faces child pornography charges.
Authorities say Officer Eli Barthel was arrested on Friday after an investigation by the Illinois Attorney General’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigations.
Galena Police say Barthel is currently being held in the Stephenson County Jail and has been placed on administrative leave pending termination.
The Illinois Attorney General’s Office is expected to release further details sometime today.
