DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) – Court documents show a Florida judge dismissed a lawsuit against the Archdiocese of Dubuque regarding a priest accused of sexually abusing boys.
Leo Riley previously served as a pastor at a Dubuque Catholic Church in the 1980s. He was serving as the priest of a church in Florida until last year.
In October 2024, three men filed civil lawsuits against Riley, accusing him of sexual abuse when they served as altar boys at the Dubuque church.
The Archdiocese was dismissed from the lawsuits because of lack of jurisdiction. Riley has also asked to be dismissed from the case. So far, there’s no ruling on Riley’s motion.
A similar case against Riley was dropped in Iowa due to the statute of limitations expiring.
